Phetasy Community Guidelines

The Phetasy philosophy is simple: Happiness is a practice that starts with laughing at yourself and ends with laughing at everything else. This community is where we practice. In the media cul-de-sac we’re creating, this is our gated community (the pool’s going in next year). By requiring a minimum threshold to enter, we want to weed out the riff raff and cultivate a community united by liberty, humor and grit. 

Above all else we value freedom. Freedom of expression. Freedom to laugh in the face of life’s darkest moments. Freedom to make mistakes. Freedom from the masks we wear to hide our pain, our suffering and our insecurities. We want the Phetasy community to be a place where people can drop these masks and inspire others to do the same. A place where we bring out the best in each other. Where uncertainty is allowed and differing opinions are respected. A community of people more interested in discovering what they are for rather than what they are against. A place where we can be challenged and as a result, grow. Take risks. Face our demons. And laugh while the world burns.

We encourage thoughtful dialogue, critical thinking and not taking any of this too seriously. In order to create an environment where people feel they can express themselves honestly, be vulnerable and be silly–we have some simple guidelines:

1. Freedom of speech doesn’t mean freedom to be a dick. No personal attacks. If you attack, abuse, or troll other members of the community, you’re out.
2. Real names are encouraged. Personal connection often gets lost in the digital age. Real names can help you see the human behind the avatar. Besides, we want to get to know you.
3. Support each other! If you see another member struggling, reach out. We’re all just trying to get by. 
4. That being said, if someone is sharing something vulnerable and not asking for advice, don’t feel compelled to offer it. Support and advice are two different things. Unsolicited advice is the bane of Bridget’s existence. 
5. In many ways, we are a support group for the politically homeless, which means we have members from all across the political spectrum, so know that going in. Keep an open mind and do your best not to take someone’s difference of opinion as a personal attack.  
6. And speaking of politics, it doesn’t always have to be all about politics. Please for the love of God talk about other things too. Politics are the bane of Maggie’s existence. 
7. No porn, no violent images, no graphic or lewd comments. We want this place to be an oasis from the toxicity that’s taken over other public forums. 
8. We obviously don’t stand by or endorse everything said here. We’re allowed to change our minds and so are you. We realize this is a novel concept in 2019, but let’s bring it back into the world, shall we?
9. We are works in progress and so is this community. There are going to be growing pains, please be patient with each other, yourself, but (most importantly) with us. 
10. Be kind. Stay grateful. Keep things in perspective. We are tiny little humans, spinning through space; flawed and imperfect. The human experience is messy, nuanced and often ridiculous. It’s over in the blink of an eye. Let’s try to enjoy the ride.

She incorporates vulnerability, satire, and mischief into themes about independence, recovery, wellness, and the critical importance of dialogue in our daily civic life. As the owner and operator of Phetasy, Inc., she has built a digital media cul-de-sac, leveraging existing platforms such as Twitter, YouTube, and Locals to deliver insightful and compelling commentary and observations on current events.

Her weekly podcast, Walk-Ins Welcome, has become staple listening for many influencers in the social media space. Her relaxed and conversational style provides an easily accessible environment for the sharing of important and topical ideas.

Her YouTube show Dumpster Fire is a satirical commentary on the ridiculousness of the 24-hour news cycle, the culture wars, media, social media and humanity in general.

A native New Englander, Bridget has lived in Los Angeles for the past 14 years. She is in great demand on the podcast circuit, having been interviewed by Glenn Beck, Dave Rubin, Carol Roth, Christina Hoff Sommers, Joe Rogan and other influential media figures. For her own podcast, she has interviewed a wide variety of guests from celebrities to waitresses, former Marines to stand up comics.

Bridget is passionate about issues related to addiction, recovery, mental health, sex, and relationships, and is honest in sharing her own experiences. She is a fearless advocate of free speech and tackles the topics of self-censorship and cancel culture with vigor, providing a refreshing dose of common sense in an increasingly insane culture.

• Don’t blow up other members’ feeds. If someone isn’t responding to you, let it be
• No pornography
• Keep out behavior that could be seen as trolling/spamming
